RYA Start Yachting Course – Friday Evening

Meet your Instructor and fellow crew members at Neyland Marina. Over the crews first supper together your instructor will explain the weather forecast and tidal conditions for the weekend and discuss the course itinerary. Before jumping into sleeping bags for a good night’s rest, you may wish to explore the marina facilities and pop into one of the local hostelries.

RYA Start Yachting Course – Saturday & Sunday

The boat orientation allows you to familiarise yourself with all with the working parts of a sailing vessel from stem to stern. Your instructor will take you through the aspects of sea safety and safety equipment. Each crew member will be carefully considered and fitted with all required safety gear. Now the sailing begins. Destinations and itineraries vary depending on weather and tidal conditions. A typical weekend will include an overnight stay in a lovely anchorage or harbour and exploring the Pembrokeshire waterways. Many of our students observe and photograph some of the famous wildlife found around our shores from dolphins, seals, puffins, gannets and other rare seabirds. A visit to Skomer Island to visit one of our Wild Isles is one of our head to destinations on a RYA Start Yachting weekend.

On completing the weekend course and receiving your Start Yachting certificate you can easily upgrade to a Competent Crew certificate by completing a further two weekends.
